Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical queue
254 is walk-in for ordinary sports-bar hours; cabaret, karaoke and rooftop/weekend events can fill, so use 254's dated calendar.
Best night
Choose trivia, karaoke, cabaret or dance programming; downstairs sports, upstairs club and roof deck serve different visits.
Locals vs visitors
Broad LGBTQ+ Gayborhood audiences, drag fans, sports viewers, diners and visitors.
Dress code in practice
Casual bar clothing works; club events invite expressive looks and require ID.
Staff inclusion
Current queer programming and ownership shared with Tavern on Camac/U Bar provide direct community ties; do not attribute old Tabu management practices to 254.
