Venue Detail
Exit Café
About this venue
Exit Café (sometimes serving "Exit Après Chique") is Amsterdam’s late-night queer survival house. Sitting comfortably on the ground floor of a historic 1766 carriage house right next to its massive sibling Club NYX, this cozy, long-standing gay bar leans completely into a high-energy "après-ski" party aesthetic. It has no room for stuffy pretense or sitting down—the layout is almost entirely tight standing room and a year-round colorful street terrace.

Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical queue
Varied but typically fast-moving. Entry to the bar itself is Free and you can usually walk right in during the day or early evening. However, once 1:30 AM hits and the surrounding bars begin to empty, the door bottlenecks into a tight 15 to 30-minute squeeze.
Best night
Wednesday nights for their legendary Wodka Woensdag (Vodka Wednesday) when select drink deals hit rock-bottom prices, or any weekend night post-2:00 AM when the room hits maximum peak madness.
Locals vs visitors
A very youthful, high-spirited, and fluid melting pot. It draws heavily from local young gays, international LGBTQIA+ tourists, heavy weekend party-goers, and open-minded allies who love belt-out pop anthems.
Dress code in practice
Completely casual and come-as-you-are. Think typical Amsterdam streetwear, casual denim, shorts, or colorful party attire. No luxury fashion codes apply, but definitely wear shoes you don't mind getting drinks spilled on because the floor gets tightly packed.
Staff inclusion
While the space is certified as an open, gender-neutral environment, the front door bouncers and toilet-charging attendants have a reputation for being exceptionally sharp, strict, and no-nonsense—ensure you are orderly in line and keep your physical ID ready to bypass any hassle.
