Venue Detail
Zum Schmutzigen Hobby
About this venue
Zum Schmutzigen Hobby (The Dirty Hobby) is a riotous, neon-soaked trash-glam oasis hidden inside a former train repair station within the raw industrial RAW-Gelände complex. Founded by legendary Berlin drag icon Nina Queer, this beloved institution trades clinical, dark techno minimalism for a hyper-camp, glittering wonderland lined with vintage wallpaper, disco balls, and wonderfully tacky retro furniture.

Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical queue
Generally zero to minimal on Thursday nights and early weekend openings. However, because the cozy, living-room style floorplan fills up rapidly, a tight line quickly builds on the industrial pavement on Friday and Saturday nights after midnight.
Best night
Drop in right around 10:00 PM on Fridays or Saturdays to claim a vintage couch or a prime spot near the bar before the massive late-night dancing crowd packs out the room.
Locals vs visitors
A hyper-vibrant, pop-loving cross-section of Berlin's alternative queer ecosystem, local drag fanatics, international travelers, and neighborhood characters.
Dress code in practice
Bold, expressive, and entirely come-as-you-are. You will spot everything from casual denim and vintage streetwear to flashy glitter, neon crop tops, leather accessories, and full high-glam drag.
Staff inclusion
Exceptionally high. Operated with a fierce, decades-long commitment to queer visibility and entertainment, the bartenders are famously fast, charismatic, and welcoming.
