Venue Detail
Wilde Renate
About this venue
Renate (formerly known as Salon Zur Wilden Renate) is a mind-bending, theatrical queer-centric wonderland masquerading as a multi-floor nightlife asylum. Housed inside a sprawling, un-renovated East Berlin apartment building in Friedrichshain-Stralau, this legendary labyrinth trades clinical, dark techno minimalism for high-camp, vintage maximalist chaos. It functions as an adult funhouse where hidden doors, secret passageways, and cozy velvet-lined rooms give way to thumping dance floors pumping everything from house and disco to dark electronic beats. It is beautifully unhinged, intensely expressive, and serves as a fiercely creative sanctuary for radical self-expression and hedonistic queer escapism.

Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical queue
Notoriously unpredictable due to Berlin's intense door culture. Lines build rapidly after 1:00 AM on weekends and can easily result in a 30–60 minute wait. Purchasing an advanced ticket online via direct portals guarantees you a spot in the pre-sale queue.
Best night
Arrive early around midnight on Fridays or Saturdays to catch a shorter line and comfortably explore the labyrinthine rooms before they hit maximum capacity. If you prefer a wild, sun-drenched outdoor social vibe, their summer open-air events in the sprawling courtyard during late Saturday mornings are absolute perfect
Locals vs visitors
A hyper-vibrant, eccentric, and fiercely sex-positive mix of local Berlin creatives, alternative queer subcultures, international clubbing purists, and electronic music stans.
Dress code in practice
Bold, expressive, and uninhibited. Berlin rules apply: think heavy leather, latex, fetish gear, mesh coordinates, colorful vintage sportswear, or high-concept rave wear.
Staff inclusion
Exceptionally high. Renate operates under a strict, institutionalized awareness policy with a dedicated awareness team on the floor at all times (identifiable by glowing wristbands/pins) to ensure absolute consent and safety.
