About this venue

If your idea of a perfect queer night out involves less velvet rope and much more campy chaos, welcome to your sanctuary. Hidden away in the edgier, indie-leaning East Atlanta Village, Mary's Atlanta has been proudly wearing the crown of Atlanta's favorite alternative queer dive since 1998. Named by Logo Channel and Out Magazine as one of the best gay bars in the world, this dimly lit, kitschy den skips the high-glam pretense of Midtown for a vibe that is "kinda sleazy, always easy".

Venue intelligence

Know before you go

Typical queue

Early evenings and early weeknights have zero wait. If you turn up on a Wednesday for karaoke or a Friday/Saturday after 10:00 PM, expect a steady line spilling out into the village plaza.

Best night

Wednesdays are home to their infamous "Mary-oke" nights—widely considered the absolute best, most supportive, heckle-free karaoke party in the city.

Locals vs visitors

Equal representation from every single letter of the LGBTQ+ alphabet. Mary's acts as a massive magnet for EAV locals, indie heads, trans and non-binary communities, queer women, retro pop geeks, and old-school scene veterans who love the relaxed, community-first energy.

Dress code in practice

Zero restrictions—purely come-as-you-are. Casual streetwear, vintage thrift finds, denim jackets, graphic tees, and sneakers dominate the scene.

Staff inclusion

Mary's is an intentionally safe, highly progressive, LGBTQ+-owned and operated space that specifically identifies as a transgender-safe environment.
