Welcome to the underground heart of Amsterdam’s queer history! De Trut is a legendary, non-commercial, volunteer-run disco that has been serving up safe-space realness since the squatting days of the 80s. It’s alternative, it’s unpretentious, and it is strictly about the music and the community. Queer Community Tips: No Phones Allowed: Put that selfie stick away! There is a strict no-phone and no-photography policy. This keeps the vibe intimate and safe for everyone to let loose.The Sunday Queue: Because it’s only open once a week and has a limited capacity (about 230 people), the line gets massive. Pro-tip: Arrive by 9:30 PM to ensure you actually get through the door.Cash is Queen: While they accept cards, it’s historically a cash-friendly spot with some of the cheapest drinks in the city—think €2 beers and €3 shots. Strobeless Dancing: On the first Sunday of every month, they turn off the strobe lights to be extra inclusive for those with light sensitivity. Party for a Purpose: All profits go to the Trut Fund, which supports small-scale LGBTQIA+ projects worldwide. You're literally dancing for a good cause!.
