Venue Detail
Gula Gula
About this venue
Gula Gula is an absolute pioneer of Madrid's nightlife and a legendary queer drag-dinner institution. For over 25 years, this beloved venue has combined a lively all-you-can-eat open buffet and open bar with some of the most glamorous, high-tempo cabaret and drag queen performances in Spain. While it historically closed its original standalone Gran Vía landmark, the artistic team kept the magic alive by relocating right into the lower level of the central Topolino restaurant.

Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical wait
Gula Gula works as a walk-in for most visits. Reserve for a programmed event or peak weekend meal if you do not want to gamble on a table.
Best time to visit
Gula Gula — Dinner is the natural peak, with weekend brunch where offered. Book Friday or Saturday for buzz; choose an earlier weekday slot for conversation.
Locals vs visitors
Gula Gula feels local first—a broadly queer crowd, familiar faces and neighbourhood regulars. Bigger events broaden the room, but it is not built as a tourist-only stop.
What people wear
Everyday casual works at Gula Gula. Add a smarter layer for dinner, a date or a programmed evening event.
Staff inclusion
Gula Gula's queer identity is built into the room or programme, so LGBTQ+ guests are the intended community rather than an afterthought.
