About this venue

This is Fitzroy’s massive, glitter-soaked, unapologetic queer playground that changes its colors faster than a chameleon in a disco ball factory. As Melbourne’s biggest and longest-running dedicated queer venue, Sircuit Bar functions as a community sandbox. Early in the evening, it gives off relaxed local pub energy—think clinking free pool tables, casual pints, and a street-facing smoking lounge. But as the clock strikes late, the main room morphs into a sweaty, high-intensity temple of pop worship packed with fierce drag shows and shirtless GoGo dancers. It is loud, unpretentious, incredibly camp, and completely essential for anyone who wants to dance, grind, and leave their judgments at the door.

Venue intelligence

Know before you go

Typical queue

During the week or early evening, entry is immediate. On Friday and Saturday nights from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the line snaking down Smith Street packs tight. Prepare for a 20 to 45-minute wait as crowds flock to catch the peak dancefloor sets.

Best night

Saturdays are massive for their Apollo Anthems dance night, and Sundays deliver pure drag chaos with the Henny showcases. For the boys: Monday night is the famous ADAM, a clothing-optional, relaxed social night featuring a discreetly partitioned pop-up darkroom area in the back.

Locals vs visitors

A hyper-inclusive, beautifully fluid kaleidoscope of the entire LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

Dress code in practice

"Express your absolute self." On regular club nights, you’ll see everything from casual streetwear and heavy denim to high-fashion leather harnesses and full drag. On Monday's ADAM night, the policy famously drops down to underwear, towels, or full birthday suits.

Staff inclusion

Sircuit operates under a fiercely protective, zero-tolerance stance on harassment or toxic behavior. The venue features wheelchair-accessible entrances and fully gender-neutral facilities.
