About this venue

A legendary, beautifully chaotic pillar of Liverpool's Pride Quarter built way back in 1820. Known affectionately as "The Postie," it serves up a brilliantly disorienting double-life: a traditional "old man" pub downstairs and an absolutely feral, high-energy queer disco party upstairs, fueled by some of the cheapest drinks and most lethally priced shots in town.

Venue intelligence

Know before you go

Typical queue

Minimal at the door since entry is free, but it gets incredibly cramped and packed inside. Expect brief bar queues during peak weekend drinking hours.

Best night

riday and Saturday nights when the upper floor transforms into a packed, chaotic queer pre-drink spot before people head to the late-night clubs.

Locals vs visitors

A fabulous, uniquely Liverpudlian blend of local older regulars and "scouse nans" downstairs, alongside young queer clubbers, twinks, and drag fans partying upstairs.

Dress code in practice

Completely casual. Come exactly as you are—there are no rigid dress rules here.

Staff inclusion

Exceptionally high. Celebrated locally for having some of the friendliest, most welcoming, and LGBTQ+-supportive bartenders who foster a secure transgender safe space.
