Venue Detail
Badehaus Babylon
About this venue
Badehaus Babylon carries more of the old-school city-sauna feeling: practical, less polished, and very much about being a working part of queer Cologne rather than a glossy attraction. It belongs in the atlas because every strong queer city has these institutions that locals actually use, not just places optimized to impress visitors. Go here when you want the scene to feel a bit rougher and more grounded.

Know before you go
Typical queue
Babylon is 18+ and open 365 days: Monday-Thursday 10:00-06:00 and continuously from Friday 10:00 to Monday 06:00. Standard entry is EUR 28; published early, night and under-25 rates require the stated time or ID. Twelve hours are included, then EUR 3 per extra hour.
Best night
Daytime suits pool, sauna and orientation; late weekend is the social peak. Long-sauna, wellness, two-for-one and Pride pool-party dates create specific formats, so use the official calendar.
Locals vs visitors
Adult gay and bisexual men and international visitors use 1,400 square metres of sauna, pool and cruising space. The operator's admission wording is 'male-read', so this is not an all-gender queer spa.
Dress code in practice
Towel, swimwear or jockstrap are optional in most areas; the bar requires a towel or swimwear. Phones are limited to the bar, winter garden and pool, photography/filming is banned, and visibly intoxicated guests are refused. Slippers can be bought for EUR 3.
Staff inclusion
Babylon publishes concrete prices, privacy rules, card payment, water testing and a Queer City Pass discount. Its 'male-read' admission is specific and potentially exclusionary for some trans or nonbinary guests; anyone uncertain should contact reception before paying.
