Venue Detail
Inkonst
About this venue
Inkonst is Malmö’s premier, avant-garde multi-cultural laboratory where the mainstream goes to die and the underground thrives. While it isn't exclusively a gay club, it serves as the ultimate LGBTQIA+ friendly sanctuary and transgender safespace for Malmö's alternative scene. Tucked inside an old chocolate factory near Möllevången, this multi-disciplinary hub operates as an independent, boundary-pushing theater, performance art space, experimental live music venue, and high-energy club dungeon. Whenever legendary local collectives host their takeover club nights here, it turns into a sweat-slicked, neon-lit oasis of radical electronic and techno expression

Venue intelligence
Know before you go
Typical queue
Highly event-dependent. For niche performance arts, lines are minimal, but for major local techno showcases or experimental electronic music festivals like Intonal, expect a 20 to 40-minute bottleneck at the door.
Best night
Slide in around 11:00 PM on club nights to capture the room's energy right as the local DJs turn up the bass and lock the dance floor into a deep trance.
Locals vs visitors
A delightfully eccentric, subcultural mix. Expect to rub shoulders with art-school students, local techno disciples, non-binary creatives, seasoned electronic music purists, and the city’s alternative queer crowd.
Dress code in practice
Berlin-inspired underground chic or effortlessly relaxed.
Staff inclusion
Explicitly branded as a safe, non-judgmental community gathering point that prioritizes inclusivity. The bartenders, promoters, and event organizers are wonderfully welcoming and protective of queer expression.
