West Hollywood still matters deeply, but LA gets richer once you also understand Eastside queer energy, drag institutions, leather corners, and the reality that daylight glamour and nighttime chaos can belong to the same trip. The city rewards people who like contrast: polished brunch, pool energy, strip-mall icons, warehouse parties, and rooms full of people who all look like they came from different films.

West Hollywood is still the easiest entry point and absolutely worth using as an anchor if you want bars, drag, Pride-adjacent visibility, and easy nightlife logic. Socially, Los Angeles can feel very queer-legible in the right neighborhoods. Practically, the city rewards planning more than almost anywhere on the list. If you are tired, hungry, or relying on three bad transfers between districts, LA can flatten fast.
