Best night

For a queer reason to go, choose a confirmed Club Queer edition, traditionally the last Friday of the month. Those nights bring the glitter, pop and community takeover; a normal Saturday is mainstream Avenyn nightlife and should not be sold as the same experience.

Locals vs visitors

Club Queer pulls LGBTQ+ locals, allies and regional visitors into a large polished room. Outside that takeover, Park Lane attracts a mainstream, mixed-age Avenyn crowd. Do not infer the audience from the building alone: promoter and date determine whether the night feels queer, cabaret-led or conventional.

Dress code in practice

Club Queer rewards expressive partywear but does not publish one fixed costume. Park Lane’s general door is more appearance-conscious, and guests report inconsistent face control around casual or winter clothes. Bring ID, avoid sportswear if uncertain, and check that edition’s door and age rules before leaving.

Staff inclusion

The record needs candour: multiple guests allege racist or xenophobic treatment, arbitrary refusal and poor wardrobe handling at the general venue.
