Honey, say hello to the reigning matriarch of Swedish nightlife: Gretas is officially Sweden’s oldest gay club! Holding down the fort since 1997, this multi-level crown jewel in the center of Gothenburg has been serving pure queer joy for nearly three decades. It is the ultimate unpretentious party house. Spanning two distinct floors, it masterfully transitions from campy Eurovision sing-alongs, retro '80s and '90s pop, and fierce drag performances on the main disco floor, into deep house, techno, and R&B up on the top deck.

Legendary and slow-moving. Because it stays open until the break of dawn (5:00 AM), everyone gravitates here for the late-night stretch. Expect a 30 to 60-minute entry bottleneck if you roll up past midnight on a peak Saturday.
Best night
Friday and Saturday are the actual club nights. Arrive right around 10:15 PM. Rocking up close to opening allows you to completely glide past the freezing sidewalk rush, dodge the entry line, and comfortably lock down a slot at the coat check.

A spectacular, multi-generational kaleidoscope of characters. As the default flagship queer haven of the city, it pulls seasoned LGBTQIA+ community veterans, glittery Gen-Z rave kids, local drag royalty, international travelers, and plenty of supportive local allies.

EExpressively free-form and unapologetically fun. You will fit right in wearing everything from everyday Scandi streetwear and graphic tees to high-glam drag, neon festival gear, mesh, and glitter. Comfort for nonstop dancing under the massive disco ball is highly advised.
