Perched neatly near the central station, this venue operates a brilliant architectural split-personality. Street-level is the "UP" bar—a clean, bright, and casual neighborhood sports lounge wrapped in big screens where a thoroughly mixed, easygoing crowd gathers for afternoon beers and sports broadcasts. But down in the basement hides the "DOWN" club—a dark, cave-like underground vault that completely drops the mainstream facade. Turning into a gay-only wonderland once the sun sets, the lower level erupts into a smoky sanctuary of music, strobe light shows, dramatic travesti performances, and muscle-bound go-go boys dancing on poles.
