About this venue

Chez Maman is Brussels' legendary, ultimate temple of pocket-sized camp and high-drama cabaret, serving up pure icon behavior since 1994. Tucked discreetly away down a cobblestone alley, you have to knock on the heavy closed door and face the discerning mood of the bouncer just to step inside this fabulous capsule. Once you make the cut, it is a gloriously intimate, packed, and high-energy time capsule where the main wooden bar counter literally doubles as the main stage. Led by Sugar Love and an elite cast of rotating drag royalty, the queens stomp, lip-sync, and sing in their own live voices directly over your cocktail glasses.

Venue intelligence

Know before you go

Typical queue

Lines outside the door build up intensely fast. Doors open at 9:30 PM, and the sidewalk bottlenecks heavily by 10:15 PM. The club operates strictly on a no-reservations, first-come, first-served policy with a €10 standard entry fee (which usually toggles a drink jeton).

Best night

Arrive strictly by 9:45 PM to guarantee entry before the room hits maximum capacity and doors are shut. The absolute peak atmosphere kicks off past midnight as the multi-round drag shows reach maximum energy.

Locals vs visitors

A wild, fiercely animated, and multi-generational mix of dedicated local drag stans, international tourists, and global queer travelers.

Dress code in practice

Smart-casual, stylish, or full nighttime glam. There are no corporate bans, but dressing with a bit of effort or expressive flair is highly appreciated by Maman's daughters.

Staff inclusion

Deeply historic and fiercely protective of its status as an iconic queer institution. The venue runs a tight, zero-tolerance policy against any form of disrespect, judgment, or harassment toward the performers and patrons.
